Lil Pumpkin - 21 weeks

Today we  got to see our baby again for the first time since 8 weeks! Definitley looks less 'gummy-bear-ish' and more like a sweet baby! I seriously sat in awe looking at the pictures and just realizing what God is doing inside of me, I am doing nothing to create this baby, yet it is growing, developing and moving around like crazy - all being knit together by God! I am so thankful - we prayed for this child, and continue to pray and now to get to see it is seriously amazing and surreal!
Gender: As of today the only ones that know are my mid-wife and the sono-grapher- it wasn't as hard to not find out as I had feared it might be, it was just exciting to see our baby again!
Movement: I sometimes wander if baby ever sleeps - seems like it just moves all the time! {and i LOVE every second of it}
Weight Gain:  8 pounds as of today!
Maternity Clothes: Still holding off, however several sweet friends have loaned me their maternity clothes and I expect to start wearing those soon!
Sleep: I have started having some sciatica which has made life a little more interesting, {aka - almost fall on my face trying to walk occasionally} but once I get comfortable I am sleeping very good and really enjoying not having to go to the bathroom every hour - for now at least!
Cravings: Peaches - we got to pick fresh peaches off John's parents tree this weekend and they are yummy!! Unfortunately other than that I have been craving anything sweet!
Favorite Moment this week: As we were looking at what seemed like alien images [see below-ha] at points, she stopped on the heart and John and I both counted and saw all 4 chambers! He whispered '4 chambers' - it was a small moment but meant so much to know there is a healthy heart and things are developing normally! We know this is all the Lord's doing and we are so thankful!
We prayed on the way to the appointment that no matter what we saw today we would find our JOY in the Lord, our continued prayer is that our hearts would find joy in the Lord no matter what the circumstances!
We are so in love already and cannot wait to meet lil pumpkin!

We will head to Colorado this week for a week long vacation and are really looking forward to some cool weather, beautiful scenery, olympics and celebrating our year anniversary!

20 weeks

HALF WAY

Gender: Hopefully in 20 weeks we will know - but for now we have nick-named the baby 'lil pumpkin' - since we are due around Thanksgiving and because i love fall - we decided lil pumpkin would be much better than calling the baby 'it'
We do have our names picked out, but not knowing which one it will be we needed a name until then!

Movement: This baby moves all the time and it never gets old to me! The movements are definitely getting stronger as the baby grows! It is now the size of a coconut!!! John still falls asleep almost every night with his hand on my tummy, but he usually falls asleep so fast to feel anything! But he has felt a few kicks in the last few days which has been super fun!
Weight Gain:  We go in on Monday for the anatomy check and I can't wait to finally see another picture of lil pumpkin - I am sure I will find out how much I have gained then too!

Maternity Clothes: Holding off and taking advantage of summer dresses!
Sleep: Still absolutely loving my pregnancy pillow {aka 'the boat'} and sleeping very soundly! I have become addicted to Tums to help calm indigestion! (plus they are yummy}

Cravings: I am loving a morning cup of coffee still - in fact go to bed excited to get up the next morning and get to drink it :) I had one really strong urge for pecan pie the other night -which we found is hard to find mid-summer, but we finally found one at Boston Market, and you better believe we bought a whole pie and I have been LOVING every piece of it! Other than that, ironically, I have been craving fresh and healthy food! I am starting to get hungry ALL THE TIME and get full super fast!

This week::

After a lot of research....
We finally started registering! I had never gotten to use the gun before and i loved it!!!
We did all our wedding registry online since I was living in Guatemala - this was so much more fun!!!!
  Nerd alert:: research in hand, highlighter, sharpie pen and of course THE GUN!!!
We didn't get too far on the list this first time, but we are planning to return this week to hopefully finish up!
I have started having random people in public ask me about being pregnant! Thankful to be past the stage of just looking like I have been eating too much and finally actually look pregnant!

Get rid of ants - chemical free!

We went on a wonderful one night staycation this weekend in McKinney, TX! If you ever get a chance to spend time there, you should! Wonderful restaurants, shops, and adorable down town area! Plus several antique stores - ahhh love!

We got back to realize that ants had taken over one wall in our bathroom! Since trying to simplify and go chemical free{ish} I decided to try to get rid of them without harsh chemicals!

I mixed Borax with maple syrup and rubbed just a little bit on the wall in the middle of their 'path'
BORAX
MAPLE SYRUP
{mix until becomes a paste}

Just to ensure that they saw the mixture, I cut the top off of a muffin liner, put the borax - maple syrup mixture in it, and placed that on the floor under them! [In the future I don't even think this will be necessary - they never even made their way down to the floor]

Literally within an hour those little boogers were gone, and have yet to return!

I think the maple syrup draws the ants in and the borax illuminates them!

I had no idea this would be so successful, but definitely keeping this in mind for future ant invasions!!!!

19 weeks

19 Weeks
Gender: We are going to let this be a surprise and we are so excited Although we realized yesterday that by now we could know and it made us a little more curious - but we will hold strong!!!
Size: According to the Baby Bump app, the baby is 6in, the size of an heirloom tomato, and weighs about 8.5oz!
Movement: The movements have gone from feeling like a rumbling in my tummy to actual kicks, just in the last few days! It surprises me every time still, but I love it! John has been able to feel a few small movements, but we are still waiting for him to feel the kicks - he usually falls asleeptf with his hand on my tummy and is out by the time the baby starts kicking - its kind of precious i love it!
Weight Gain: Last appointment I had gained 2lbs, but I am sure it will be more next time I go in!

Maternity Clothes: I have bought 2 pairs of shorts that are a size bigger than I normally wear, other than that I am loving cotton dresses - lose and cool in the Texas summer heat, holding off as long as I can on buying anything much bigger! I also use a belly band a lot - or keep shorts unzipped and wear a long tank over them!
Sleep: I got a pregnancy pillow this week and it has made a huge difference! I am sleeping a TON better!!
I got a Leach co. Back 'N Belly pillow! It is huge - and I love it! John calls it my boat - it gives great support to both sides and when I flip over I don't have to take it with me! I can also prop up with it which helps a lot with the pregnancy inits and the newly found indigestion! Also, this week I woke up about 4 times in one night with horrible cramps in my calves - pregnancy really is a CRAZY thing!!!

Cravings: I am loving a morning cup of coffee still! Other than that I dont really have many cravings but am loving lots of fresh fruits (watermelon has been a staple for the last 4 months) and vegetables! Trying to stay away from heavy foods - trying to avoid or at least lessen the heart burn!
I am feeling better than I have in years! (Pre-pregnancy I had been really sick with some crazy stuff I picked up in Guatemala) It is amazing what a difference having energy and feeling good makes - I am soaking it all in and loving every minute of it!

Two favorite baby moments from this week::

On our way to date night we stopped at Babies R Us to get a gift for a friend - John's first time in there! He loved it and we started looking around to get ready to register! {He is like a kid at Christmas, gets giddy thinking about getting to register and has been asking me if we can since like week 6} I think it will actually be time soon.....although it kinda overwhelms me {ALOT}
 After reading in our baby bump app that our baby can now hear us, John went and got Peter Rabbit and read it to our baby - it was precious! Completely melted my heart!!!!

a simple can of paint

A simple can of paint can do wonders to a room:: here was our guest bathroom before:
{plus a few paint samples on the wall}

 All of the decorations I had in there were just things that I had when we first moved in! I was ready for a small make over in that department too!

And the after....ahhhh COLOR.... so much better!!!

We used a high gloss paint in here. I normally dont like gloss, but thought it would look nice and be a fun change for the bathroom!
I used some other things I had to decorate with for now...soon there will be a lot of baby stuff in the bathroom I am guessing :)

nothing fancy

A friend and I recently decided that since we both love looking for anything with potential - finding old, beat up, or out - of - date furniture and bringing it to life - we would start a little business! We spend a lot of time and love on each piece and you know it will be unique and one of a kind! We can also refinish any piece of your furniture for you -- Just ask!!

Here are our first items::

This is a Broyhill piece that was very out of date in its style! It would make a great TV stand, a toy trunk, or a place to store blankets in a family room! The possibilities are endless!!

$150.00 SOLD

This planter box has been stained and painted and is so beautiful, I almost kept it!
$50.00

Iron table would be adorable inside or outside!

Small and simple

  I bought these beauties for 1.00 Each knowing they had potential!

I kept the matting, but got rid of the lovely stitch work and painted the frames grey! I had some post cards from when I traveled in London and had never known exactly where to put them, but they fit perfectly and the colors were exactly what we needed to finish off the bathroom!

The lamp adds soft light which I love! My mother-in-law had given us the lamp and we bought shade at Wal-Mart!

Pallet Shelf

We started by measuring the size of the shelf that I wanted and then my amazing husband had it cut and put together in no time! He just took the slates from the backs of the pallet and the center and top pieces he used for the outside pieces! --He cut all of them using a hand saw {sweet and talented man} and nailed it all together!

Pallet used:
Shelf put together and ready to stain!
Once the stain dried [Minwax® Wood Finish™ Dark Walnut]
we hung it on the wall and added some estate sale finds - I also found a twig in our neighbors yard and hand painted it yellow (from the craft paint I had also just bought at the estate sale) and we went to Wal-Mart and bought a few towels to put inside the box!

And there it was!!!
The towels hanging on the bar, I had bought at a Stein Mart clearance sale for a few dollars each!
